Previously limited to Android alpha testers, the feature now works in any setting — including impromptu conversations without a scheduled meeting room.
Instead of requiring a video camera, you can now place your phone in a room and Gemini will automatically transcribe and summarize the spoken conversation. If remote attendees join partway through, the system can switch to a video call mode, blending in-person and remote participants.
Knowledge workers (managers, lawyers, consultants, students) who take meeting notes can now delegate that task to AI regardless of which video platform their team uses — reducing the friction of context-switching between different tools and freeing time during actual meetings to focus on listening and discussion rather than typing.
