Polynya launches free tool that turns Postgres databases into AI-ready workspaces, letting AI agents query data without touching production systems

Polynya is a new open-source tool that syncs your Postgres database to Iceberg (a data storage format) every 30 seconds, then spins up isolated ClickHouse instances (lightweight data query engines) on demand for each AI agent. The product is free during early access with paid tiers at $39/month (Pro) and $99/month (Team) launching soon.

Instead of giving AI agents direct access to your production database—where a bad query could crash your systems—each agent gets its own temporary database that shuts down after use. You build persistent "workspaces" (collections of saved queries and views) that agents can reuse across sessions, so they gradually build up analytical knowledge over time.

For product teams, data analysts, and fraud investigators, this removes the friction of setting up separate data warehouses or query tools. A product manager can now ask an AI agent to analyze revenue trends or detect fraudulent patterns directly against their live Postgres without waiting for ETL pipelines (data export processes) or needing a separate analytics database.
