GitLab and AWS integrate AI agents into software development workflows, letting teams use their existing AWS spending on AI features

GitLab announced on April 21, 2026 that its Duo Agent Platform (an AI that makes decisions and takes actions on its own in software development) can now run through Amazon Bedrock (AWS's AI service). Teams using both tools can route their AI processing through AWS instead of a separate vendor, keeping everything within their existing AWS contracts and billing.

Instead of signing up for a separate AI service with separate costs, software development teams can now use GitLab's AI agents with the same AWS login credentials and spending commitments they already have — the same way you'd use any other AWS tool. This removes friction: one bill, one set of access controls, fewer vendor relationships to manage.

For software teams at enterprises that already pay AWS for cloud infrastructure, this cuts the barrier to adopting AI-powered code review, security scanning, and testing automation — they can start experimenting with AI agents without negotiating new contracts or payment terms.
