The standalone Siri app will surface past chat history and allow users to upload documents and photos in addition to text.
Siri will be accessible two ways in the new iOS: users can press a button to trigger a response from the Dynamic Island (the black pill-shaped area at the top of the screen), or swipe down to open an AI-powered search that draws on the rebuilt Siri model and displays results in a card-style interface from the Dynamic Island.
Apple's install base across all devices is 2.5 billion, compared with ChatGPT's 900 million weekly active users, giving Apple significant reach to introduce AI to people who have not yet adopted standalone AI tools.
