What happened

X Square Robot released XRZero-G0, a hardware-software framework combining a VR headset with dual gripper designs and multi-view cameras, alongside the G0-Dataset, a 2,000-hour repository of robot training data. The company demonstrated that combining approximately 10 robot-free episodes with one real-robot episode can achieve performance comparable with purely real-robot datasets. Both the system design, code, and dataset are now open-source on GitHub and HuggingFace.

Why it matters

Collecting high-quality robot training data has been a major bottleneck in embodied AI (AI systems that learn through physical interaction). By standardizing data collection through human demonstration and automated quality checks—rather than requiring direct robot interaction—XRZero-G0 makes it feasible to gather far more training material at lower cost.
