What happened
Denso Create began offering Next Design V5.1 and the Next Design AI Toolkit on September 30, 2026. Pricing starts at 69,600 yen (76,560 yen with tax) per user per year, and the supported OS is Windows 11.
Why it matters
The release is meant to let people and AI work from one shared base of design data, so model drafts, reviews, and consistency checks can flow into real design deliverables rather than staying in chat.
What to watch
The payoff hinges on whether teams adopt the AI-agent workflow for everyday design work, not just demos. The entry price is 69,600 yen per user per year, so cost per seat is the first test.
WHO IT HITSEmbedded-software and electrical-equipment design teams evaluating whether to put AI agents on the same structured design repository their engineers already use will weigh the per-seat cost and the Windows 11 requirement.

Denso Create is a software-development company wholly owned by Denso, and the company says it has practiced shop-floor-led improvement activities measured in man-hours for more than 20 years since its founding. Next Design grew out of that experience supporting Denso's own software development, and it is used not only in the automotive industry but also in embedded-software and electrical-equipment development. The tool's central idea is that design information spanning requirements, system design, software design and testing is managed as structured models tied together by a metamodel, with relationships and traceability kept in one place.
The new version extends that foundation rather than replacing it. V5.1 improves loading performance on large projects, where many developers participate and design information and models accumulate, cutting the wait between opening a file and starting design work. Alongside it, the AI toolkit connects AI agents to the same models, metamodels, traceability and diagrams so that model creation, editing, verification and gap-checking land in the actual design deliverables.
Whether this changes day-to-day engineering depends less on the AI features themselves than on whether teams route their real design work through the shared models instead of using the assistant as a side channel. The company's pitch is that designers can concentrate on judgment while AI handles organizing, checking and drafting, but that division of labor only holds if the structured data stays authoritative.
