Google announces AI-powered features for Google TV including Gemini capabilities and a YouTube Shorts feed on the home screen

Google announced Wednesday new AI features for Google TV: Gemini tools Nano Banana (an image-generation and editing model) and Veo (which creates or animates video clips), rolling out first on Gemini-enabled TCL TVs in the U.S., with broader device support expected later.

Nano Banana lets users transform photos via voice prompts (swapping outfits, changing backgrounds, generating scenes), while Veo creates clips from scratch or animates still images by describing a scenario. Google Photos gains Gemini-powered search to surface specific memories, a 'Remix' feature applying artistic styles, and 'Dynamic Slideshows' with animated layouts and frames.

A new 'Short videos for you' row will appear on the Google TV home screen starting with YouTube Shorts content, with Google hinting expansion to other platforms in the future.
