OpenAI launches workspace agents in ChatGPT — AI that automates multi-step business tasks across your company's tools

OpenAI announced workspace agents for ChatGPT, AI workers (powered by Codex, a coding AI) that run in the cloud and automatically execute complex business workflows across connected apps — handling tasks like processing expense reports, scheduling meetings, or updating databases without human intervention each step.

Unlike ChatGPT's chat mode where you type each request, these agents run continuously, make their own decisions about what to do next, and work securely within your company's existing tools — so a single agent can pull data from Slack, update your CRM, and send confirmations without you asking for each action.

For business teams drowning in repetitive work (HR approvals, sales pipeline updates, customer service tickets), this means automating 3–5 hour-per-week busywork per employee without building custom software or hiring engineers — freeing staff to focus on decisions only humans should make.
