Motley Fool contributor Marc Guberti named Iren as the single AI stock he would buy through the next bubble scare, citing its pristine balance sheet and 3.55 current ratio versus CoreWeave's 0.46.
Why it matters
Guberti argues Iren's stronger balance sheet lets it charge higher prices for its megawatts if borrowing costs rise and competitors are squeezed, with less supply giving it more negotiating power and prepayments that reduce dilution.

Guberti's case rests on reading the sector's bad news backwards. Gartner projects 80% of neoclouds will cease independent operations by 2030, and CoreWeave's corporate bonds reached yields of 15%, which investors took as warnings about borrowing costs across the industry. Guberti treats both as supply constraints that would leave Iren, one of the top neocloud providers, with scarcer and more valuable capacity.
The absence of company news since Iren's fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter earnings at the end of August is, in his framing, a feature rather than a bug. The only press release since then covered its 2-gigawatt Sweetwater Hub being included as Base Load in ERCOT Batch Zero. Guberti says nothing about the stock has changed: Iren still has a 5.8-gigawatt pipeline, is leading discussions for approximately $25 million per megawatt, and reports customer prepayments covering 45% to 55% of GPU capital expenditures.
Near-term evidence on AI spending will arrive before the end of October. Micron's fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter results and Taiwan Semiconductor's 41.2% year-over-year revenue growth in its third quarter suggest tech companies are still spending heavily and may ramp up capex in 2027, which Guberti expects to flow into Iren's coffers. The hyperscalers' reports by month-end are the next checkpoint.
