U.S. federal judge releases document described as suicide note purportedly written by Jeffrey Epstein

U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas released a handwritten note described as a suicide note purportedly written by Jeffrey Epstein after a request by The New York Times. The note was said to have been found by Epstein's former jail cellmate, convicted murderer and ex-police officer Nicholas Tartaglione.

The note includes the line: 'It is a treat to be able to choose one's time to say goodbye.' Epstein, a disgraced financier and accused sex trafficker, was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 in what was ruled a suicide.

The New York Times reported the note's existence last week, prompting the judge overseeing the Tartaglione case to release the document.
