Google turns on AI features by default in Workspace, giving all users access to Gemini without opt-in

Google enabled generative AI features (Gemini) as the default setting across Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides) — administrators now need to actively disable these features if they don't want them, rather than users opting in.

The shift means AI-powered drafting, summarization, and content generation are now active in your email, documents, and spreadsheets immediately — you don't have to hunt for settings or request access first.
