Adobe brings Premiere for Android, free with AI credits

Adobe's launch of Premiere for Android marks the app's arrival on the platform after Apple devices got it last year. The free tier lowers the barrier for Android users who previously had no way to access Premiere on their phones without a subscription or Creative Cloud account. The app includes generative AI tools with image-to-video and text-to-video options, drawing on Adobe's "commercial safe" Firefly model as well as Google Veo, Google Omni, Luma Ray, and Kling models. These features are available through a credit system, with the free tier offering 250 monthly credits—enough for a few Veo Fast clips (80 credits each) or a single Firefly video—and a paid tier providing 1,200 monthly credits for $70 per year or $8 per month. The app is also optimized for Googlebook laptops, though the full desktop version of Premiere remains unavailable on those devices. Whether the free tier's 250 monthly AI credits prove sufficient for regular users will likely shape how many upgrade to the paid plan, and the app's performance on devices at the 5GB RAM threshold will determine how broadly it can be adopted.
