Wells Fargo's third-quarter earnings call highlighted a broad push into AI and digital assets. CEO Charlie Scharf said the bank is spending significant management time and resources on AI, applying it to software development, marketing, cybersecurity, risk management, customer service, and underwriting. This follows years of investment in technology platforms, which Scharf said helped drive growth in the Wealth and Investment Management business. Client assets there grew 11% year over year to over $2.7 trillion, and average loan balances rose 16%. The bank also launched tokenized deposits on its own blockchain, giving corporate and commercial clients a new, more efficient way to move money. Wells Fargo is among 21 financial institutions planning to form a company to issue stablecoins.
