Cisco unveiled Ecosystem Deal Registration, which credits advisers, consultants and developers for deals they shape but don't execute — with referral incentives starting next spring — and said channel bookings were about 90% of fiscal 2026.
Why it matters
The program extends Cisco's partner economics beyond the reseller holding the transaction, a shift that could ease channel conflict if resellers see influence-based rewards growing the pie rather than splitting it.

Cisco Partner Summit has spent most of its 30-year history teaching partners how to sell Cisco technology. This year's Vancouver event pivoted to how partners earn money when the transaction itself is no longer the main event. Cisco arrived with momentum — its stock was up more than 50% over the past 12 months — and Chief Executive Chuck Robbins called fiscal 2026 "the absolute best year that Cisco's ever had." Senior vice president Tim Coogan told the 2,000 partners in attendance that channel bookings were about 90% of Cisco's total and that global channel growth was just over 17%.
The new program responds to a buying process Cisco says has grown more distributed. Cisco cited Omdia research showing customers rely on six to seven partners and pass through 28 moments of influence before buying, which means a program that pays only the partner holding the paper ignores most of what shapes the decision. Ecosystem Deal Registration is Cisco's attempt to formalize that influence, with dedicated Partner Value Indexes for advisors and developers and a unified distributor index planned for 2027.
Robbins also acknowledged bumps in the Cisco 360 rollout, telling partners, "We're not perfect. We'll screw it up, but we'll fix it." The open question is whether resellers treat the new influence credits as a pipeline opportunity or as channel conflict — a tension the program's design will have to prove out.
