SLB and Qualcomm Technologies enter collaboration to deploy edge AI capabilities directly in oilfield operations

SLB and Qualcomm Technologies announced a memorandum of understanding on Monday to integrate Qualcomm's low-power edge computing and AI processing technologies with SLB's Agora edge AI and IoT platform for energy operations.

The collaboration aims to bring AI processing closer to field equipment rather than relying solely on centralized computing, enabling real-time decision-making in remote energy environments where connectivity may be limited and latency reduction is critical.

The initiative is intended to help operators modernize legacy operating environments, strengthen cybersecurity across operational technology systems, and advance adoption of autonomous workflows in production operations.
