What happened
A model projecting a $5,000 Marvell Technology stake to 2031 gave a base-case value of $6,763.50, from a projected share price of $368.34.
Why it matters
The projection implies the stock's growth would slow — so a buyer today would see most of the gain build after the first year, not from another sharp rally.
What to watch
The projection is not a guarantee: it hinges on whether AI data center spending keeps growing at its current pace, and on Tuesday's Investor Day framework in New York.
WHO IT HITSThis lands on individual investors weighing whether to buy Marvell after a 213.75% one-year gain, and on analysts who must judge whether AI data center demand can support the projected share price. Portfolio managers holding the stock may also watch the scenarios as a risk benchmark.

Marvell's stock has climbed more than 200% over the past year as AI data center demand surged, and management says that demand is still speeding up. That context explains why a five-year projection matters: after such a run, the question is less whether the business is growing and more whether the current price already reflects it.
The projection reflects that tension. Its base case of $6,763.50 for a $5,000 stake, using a $368.34 share price, implies a 6.23% annualized return, far slower than the past year's pace. The model's own bull and bear cases spread widely, from $9,448 to $4,077. The bull case leans on custom silicon — Marvell's expanded partnership with Google, which includes a warrant for up to 7% of shares if revenue targets are met, and management's expectation that the custom business more than doubles year over year in fiscal 2028. It also confirmed a custom revenue path toward a "$10 billion kind of plus number" in fiscal 2029. Margins add support: non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 36.6% from 34.8%, and management expects to reach a 38% to 40% long-term target in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027.
The risks are concentrated and already priced in. Marvell trades at 90 times trailing earnings and 62 times forward earnings, with a beta of 2.253, so the shares tend to move about twice as much as the market. A small group of hyperscalers drives a large share of revenue, and any could cut spending or design chips in-house. Supply of advanced wafers, substrates and test capacity is tight, prompting about $1 billion in prepayments to suppliers this fiscal year. Long-term debt totals $4.963 billion, and the Google warrant could dilute shareholders, while stock-based compensation rose to $207.6 million in the first quarter from $142.1 million a year earlier. Whether the base case holds may hinge on whether hyperscaler spending persists and on the longer-term revenue framework expected at Tuesday's Investor Day in New York.
