At Zoomtopia 2026, Zoom introduced a Unified Context Layer that combines model knowledge, files and apps like Salesforce and ServiceNow, and live conversations into a near-real-time graph of people, topics and decisions. It also offers 15 MCP servers and connects to Claude, Codex and Copilot.
Why it matters
The new layer positions Zoom as an AI data platform whose product is the conversational data flowing through meetings, calls and chats, not just the video tools that capture it. That shift is seen as changing where Zoom can play within an enterprise and how it needs to go to market.
WHO IT HITSThis lands on enterprise IT and procurement teams evaluating Zoom, as well as sales and HR leaders whose budgets Zoom is now courting — buyers who historically had little reason to talk to Zoom beyond licensing seats.

Zoom's shift has been building since before the pandemic, when it began evolving beyond the unified-communications and contact-center categories analyst firms placed it in. At Zoomtopia 2026, that evolution became a stated strategy: video and communications tools are the capture mechanism, while the data and actions are the product. The Unified Context Layer is designed to close a gap Zoom highlights — documented knowledge is always out of date because decisions are made in conversations and written down later, if at all.
The company has used acquisitions and product investments to follow conversations into new buying centers. Common Room, which closed in July, pushes Zoom further upstream into revenue operations by unifying CRM, product, marketing and engagement data into person-level buyer intelligence. BrightHire, acquired in December 2025 for $98 million in cash, brings interview recording, transcription and AI-driven screening into the talent function. Zoom also cited Cricut, which cut customer wait times by 89%, as an example of its context story in customer experience.
The commercial challenge is that Zoom's salesforce and channel partners were built to sell meetings, phone and contact center to IT and communications buyers. Products like Revenue Accelerator, Workvivo and BrightHire target chief revenue officers, heads of talent acquisition and chief people officers, who have different priorities and existing vendor relationships. Zoom Chief Product Officer Russell Dicker said Zoom is seeing a mix of greenfield and installed-base deals but didn't share numbers. Zoom CMO Kim Storin said the revenue organization is "the wedge back into these companies that may be standardizing on Teams or Google" — though she acknowledged IT has been tightening purchase controls over the past nine months because of unpredictable token and consumption costs.
