tanashun rebuilt tanacode 2.0.0's chat mechanism from terminal screen-scraping to stream-json, completing the work in 1 day by combining parent-child sessions, checklists and optimized compaction.
Why it matters
The three features let the parent agent split work, keep decisions consistent and survive context limits, leaving the human with only start permissions, policy judgments and final checks.

The rebuild replaced tanacode 2.0.0's chat mechanism, switching from reading the Claude Code terminal screen to exchanging JSON lines via stream-json. This was a major change to the app's core, and tanashun chose to delegate the splitting of work to the parent Claude, which also decided which tasks could run in parallel and which had to be sequential.
During the rebuild, the parent went through optimized compaction more than 6 times. Because decisions and current state remained outside the conversation, the parent could continue without losing the original policy. The human was left with three tasks: granting permission each time a child started, answering judgment questions from the parent, and doing a final check of the finished product.
tanashun notes that parent-child sessions are not suited to small tasks, since the parent session consumes extra tokens. The combination is most effective for work large enough to require splitting, where managing child sessions by hand would become overwhelming.
