Google launched Universal Cart in the US, letting shoppers save items from multiple stores into one cart across Google Search and the Gemini app, built on Google's shopping graph of over 60 billion product listings.
Why it matters
Shoppers can move between Search and Gemini without losing saved items, track price drops and restocks in the background, and check out in a few taps, so a single cross-store cart may replace scattered tabs and screenshots.
WHO IT HITSUS shoppers using Google Search and the Gemini app can now keep items from multiple retailers in one place, and participating merchants such as Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Wayfair, and Shopify stores gain a direct checkout path from that cart.

Universal Cart is positioned as a replacement for the tabs and screenshots shoppers typically use to keep track of items across stores. By letting a shopper save a Steve Madden bag in AI Mode on Google Search and later add a Quince sweater or Ulta Beauty lip gloss in the Gemini app, Google keeps each item in the cart so shopping can resume where it left off.
The feature runs on Google's shopping graph, which the company says contains more than 60 billion product listings. That base lets the cart work in the background and send notifications when a price falls or an item is back in stock.
Universal Cart also builds on Google Wallet to understand card benefits and help choose a payment method, and it can surface relevant promo codes directly from the cart. Purchases can be completed with Google Pay in a few taps, or items can be transferred to the seller's cart for checkout on that site. Retailers including Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Wayfair, and many Shopify merchants support the simplified checkout.
