NEC is rolling out Claude Code on Amazon Bedrock toward an AI-native engineering force of roughly 30,000. Two AWS-cohosted workshops on 2026年7月16日 and 8月25日 drew 158 participants, and 93% said they want to use it in development.
Why it matters
More than nine in ten workshop attendees wanting to use the tool in development suggests the rollout is building hands-on demand rather than staying a top-down mandate, which is the kind of uptake NEC needs to scale the program.
WHO IT HITSEnterprise IT and engineering leaders at large organizations weighing company-wide rollouts of AI coding tools, and the trainers and internal champions who run adoption programs, may look to NEC's workshop-and-community model as a reference.

NEC's push builds on a strategic collaboration with Anthropic that began in April 2026, focused on enterprise AI, and on an earlier corporate-level collaboration with AWS in Japan dating to November 2020. The workshops are the visible tip of an organizational model: NEC's SI services Center of Excellence (CoE) sets direction, but each business division builds its own promotion structure and develops champions who lead adoption on the ground. The two sessions were split into an introductory track on basic operations and a more advanced track limited to mid-level engineers recommended by those division structures, with Anthropic joining the August 25 session as a guest.
The feedback points to a shift in how participants think about the tool. Many said they had mainly used chat-based AI before and only now saw a concrete path to building applications. In the advanced session, attendees described learning to break down business processes and embed supporting mechanisms, rather than relying on one-off prompts, and several said they could apply the ideas immediately or move from individual use to group use. NEC is also standardizing specialized Skills covering requirements definition through design, build and testing, so engineers spend less time experimenting and veterans' know-how reaches the field in a form AI can use.
There is candidness about friction. A post-event consultation session drew questions about how far to trust AI and how to work with it, and hands-on exercises hit several problems rooted in the execution environment. NEC's stated next steps are continued training tailored by audience, a community for sharing practices across sites, and broader use cases tied to process standardization, all with AWS and Anthropic. The company frames the goal as turning individual experience into organizational assets rather than running a one-off event.
