What happened
BellTeam, a self-hosted app for running multiple AI members on your own machine, is live on the App Store; version 1.0.1 arrived October 19, with the Mac version still under review.
Why it matters
The app gives users a way to set up several AI members on hardware they control, rather than relying solely on an outside service.

BellTeam is described by its creator as close to a culmination of tools built over time. That background includes an AI assistant that could run Claude Code from Discord, a memory-and-persona layer that became the secretary Bell, Throughline for carrying conversations forward, Aiterm for giving AI a persistent terminal, Lattice for arranging and distributing steps, and Peertable for seats that consult each other. BellTeam members basically run on Aiterm, and Throughline is also used.
A second motivation was maintaining one open-source project across several operating systems and harnesses. Until now the creator moved between environments to keep OS support in sync, likening it to a seesaw where fixing one side breaks the other, and each version upgrade added work. Because BellTeam members run on Aiterm, which can wake agents on other machines, the creator now assigns work to agents on each OS. Three recent examples show this: Throughline on October 15 fixed a Windows-only conversation-record saving failure, Caveat waited during a Windows failure before merging a fix that passed Mac, Linux, and Windows tests, and testgate on October 16 split investigation and repair from verification and release, with a distribution member installing the fix on each machine.
The app is positioned as an alternative to xAI's Grok Bot, which was released on August 11, 2026, while BellTeam was being built. The creator argues BellTeam offers more freedom for people who can customize: harness and model can be chosen per member, and the server runs on the user's own machine with its contents public.
